The charging study aftermath: Overnight charging is going out of fashion

The smaller the capacity, the lower the charging speed can be as top off occurs much sooner. I still charge overnight on my 7.5w charger as my phone lasts all day for my general usage. Anything over 4000mah would likely require at least 25w wired to sustain a reasonable charge time

Even 15W charger is good enough. I’m using Samsung A52. Charging is pretty fast for 4500Mah battery.

I’m also pretty sure there’s many studies about this online that recommends this thing.

Maybe out of fashion, but still used by most. Phones that needs 5 hours charge and lasts for 4 days, is still better than any phone that needs a chsrge

FenCPH, 1 hour agoGreed 🧐The batteries in the phones are rated to be able to maintain 80% after two years but thats the absolute WORST case scenario. That is if you were to fully deplete it to 0% and then fully charge it back to 100% every day for two years. In reality, most people don’t do this and if you are properly taking care of your battery you’d still maintain around 85-95% depending on exactly what you’ve done. Even with the absolute worse case scenario after 4 years you’d still have something like roughly 60% after those 4 years. Its like your car, your car is never going to run as good as it did the first year you had it, but people will continue to keep their car for a long time. Most people don’t know how to fix their own car just like how most people don’t know how to replace their phone battery and need to bring it to a mechanic or professional phone repair shop. Alternatively you can learn to do it yourself.

Every knowledgeable user should buy a CHARGE a fairly cheap module that you can set to charge your mobile to 80% or any other limit of your choosing.
CHARGE can even be set to start charging at a specific time during the night.
Works via Bluetooth to the mobile.
I am not affiliated with the company, just a satisfied user of 2 years.
I use a galaxy xcover pro that has user replaceable batteries.
Keep E-waste at minimum 😒

Recently I noticed that Samsung for the middle range or flag ships offers 4 years of OS updates! But what use if after 2 years ,battery no longer has that capacity and can not be replaced? At least, those in the A52,53 range with plastic cover… why Samsung does not allow this cover to be removed???The battery to be replaced is more important than a longer OS update.

Anders, 2 hours agoLosing “only” 20% of your battery capacity in 2 years is hardly impressive Correct. Phones earlier had slower charging but the batteries lasted far more. My previous phone for example. It was a four year old phone. The battery was still at about 80 percent at the time when I changed phones

Ever since I’ve had a fast-charging phone (Nexus 6 was my first), haven’t left my phones charge overnight. Quick top-ups whenever it’s needed. OnePlus 8T charges so fast that 15-20 mins every morning is more than enough for the day and night.
