Cooking workshops, K-pop dance and ‘nail art’, among the leisure offer for young people in Murcia

The “Networks for Free Time” program offers more than forty activities for citizens aged 12 to 30 residing in the municipality

“Networks for Free Time” will offer an extensive program during the months of October, November and December aimed at the young population (between 12 and 30 years old) in the municipality of Murcia.

Redes returns with an attractive and varied program, offering more than 40 activities that will take place during the months of October, November and December for twelve consecutive weekends, starting from October 1 and with the participation of different entities, groups and youth associations.

As a novelty in the scheduled activities, the different “Themed Cooking Workshops” stand out: Halloween recipes, sushi recipes and Christmas recipes. There will be several sessions of each of these workshops where they will learn the different techniques of each type of recipe and cuisine. These workshops will take place on Friday afternoons at Espacio Joven La Nave and will start on October 14 and end on December 16.

Another activity will be the “orientation and use of GPS workshop” at the Center Social Universitaire which will start on November 4th. This workshop will consist in learning to interpret the different existing maps and to design, via the smartphone or the computer, different routes by distinguishing the elevation differences, the distances, the time of realization of the designed route. There will be two theoretical sessions and a practical outing with the designed route.

Another similar activity will take place on December 18 in El Valle and it will be the “Orientation in Nature” activity, which will be a workshop with a practical focus on how to interpret a topographic map and learn to use the compass , the sun, or the different points that can help us orient ourselves.

There is no shortage of workshops scheduled in this edition in the different youth centers of the Municipality of Murcia, Espacio Joven La Nave and Espacio Joven 585m2, with manual dexterity workshops such as ‘Crochet’, in which young people will learn to decorate or to manufacture various elements such as covers, cases or clothing and accessories.

The ‘Clothing Customization’ workshop, whose objective is to introduce young people to the world of sewing, but with an emphasis on reusing used clothing as a means of contributing to the prevention of waste, the reduction of pollution and rational use of natural resources; There will also be dance and music workshops with the ‘K-pop workshop’, a popular Korean dance widely accepted by young people at Espacio Joven La Nave. Also, in La Nave, the ‘Nail Art’ workshop will be held from November 4th.

Sign language, comic manga and guitar

Fridays and Saturdays in the Espace Jeunes of 585m2, very popular and widely accepted workshops. Due to the high demand of previous editions, two levels will be offered in each of them, in order to give continuity and deepen the knowledge of sign language, the art of manga comics and the handling of guitar.

In addition, on Thursdays in October, November and December, Redes will be present as in the other editions at the University Social Center, with activities highly demanded by the university population, such as bachata, salsa, Latin rhythms and workshops of Sevillian dance. We will start the ‘Creative Theatre’ workshop on October 6th.

Likewise, adventure activities in nature are in demand, four hiking routes will be offered, among which we must highlight the ‘Hike to La Sagra’ on October 29, we will enjoy a hiking route in one of the highest levels that borders our Region.

On November 19, the route “Hike to El Revolcadores” will be carried out, in which the highest point of the area near Moratalla will be crowned. Also the “Night hiking route: El Puntarrón”, in which we can discover the mountainous region of El Garruchal located south of the municipality of Murcia.

Among the adventure activities, the most successful are undoubtedly the ‘via ferratas’, especially on Saturday October 23 and November 12, with the ‘Vía Ferrata de Almadenes’, located in the Cañón de Almadenes area, near Cieza, and which is a place of great ecological value.

For the most intrepid and adventurous young people, on November 27 there will be the descent of the ‘Barranco de Sanes’, a small ravine to start in this sport. And for those who want to start climbing, the activity ‘Climbing in El Valle’ has been programmed, on the walls of El Valle where routes of ascent of different degrees of difficulty can be carried out and will take place on Saturday, December 3 .

Finally, “rope descents” have been programmed, including one in the “Cueva del Gigante” in Portús, on Saturday 26 November. There will also be two caving activities, one at ‘La Cueva del Río Niño’ on November 20 and another at ‘La Sima de La Sabina’ on Saturday December 10.
