Acecale Castilla y León and Mercadona renew their collaboration agreement

The Celiac Association of Castilla y León renewed today Wednesday with Mercadona the collaboration agreement that they signed in 2019. This agreement wants to guarantee and improve the protection of the rights of users and consumers of Castilla y León, affected by disease. Under the signed agreement, both parties also undertake to improve the company’s information in retail commercial distribution to the consumer through the Mercadona supermarket chains.

The framework agreement provides for the further development of specific agreements for the defense of the interests of the celiac group in Castile and León, which can take the form of joint information and awareness campaigns, as well as the implementation of courses, seminars or conferences or in carrying out specific studies.

Concretely, in 2022, the Agreement will materialize in the project ‘Without Tupper in the backpack’, the first online cooking magazine dedicated to gluten-free restaurants in Castilla y León. A gastronomic tour of the gluten-free world that will include exclusive cooking tips and interviews with chefs already established in gluten-free gastronomy in the Community to raise awareness of the need for a safe and quality offer.

This project, which will have a total of 10 episodes with an approximate duration of 10 to 12 minutes, aims in this case to bring the hotel and restaurant sector closer to the needs of the celiac group, dismantling the myths that exist about the difficulty in adapting cuisines, ingredients and recipes to people with celiac disease. Thus, reference will be made to different issues related to celiac disease, the gluten-free diet, the correct selection and identification of safe raw materials, the preparation of recipes suitable for celiacs and the key elements to provide a safe gastronomic offer from catering establishments.
